Getting thai in China

Went to the French concession for dinner. It's so clean in this district. And I can miraculously breathe better.

Dined at a "fancy" Thai resto.



Oodles of noodles (sooo good)

Mango + sticky rice.


Free rice cake and watermelon since one of the busgirls spilled water all over my mom.


Way better than what I've had in the states thus far...

Dumplings... and more dumplings.

Went to another great, local, xiao long bao place near my mom's apt for "breakfast." Also famous for the soup dumplings and egg rolls. Pleasantly surprised by the egg rolls. I would say that up to now, every egg roll I have tried has failed miserably in taste compared to my mom's. These are fabulous, however, very different from my mom's since it is a mix of meat with turnips. My mom's is lotsa meat, bamboo, and onions.

British concession

Hung around the British Concession where the area oddly has larger amounts of oxygen than other parts of the city.

Went to a Shanghainese resto for lunch. Meat and tofu.

The Japanese never fail to do French bread and pastries well - even with a Chinese twist.

Look at this mega dang-ta. It is made with a pate sucree (French style) but Chinese custard. Delicious.


And the easiest metro I've taken thus far...

Zhujiajiao, China (River city)

1,5 hour bus-ride where we saw a man fighting with another man - we thought he was going to open a can of whoop-ass. A crazy girlfriend screaming at her bf. Stopping the bus in the middle of the street demanding to be left off. Not to mention a crazy bus driver. People littering out the window. Ahhh, China.

Besides the sites, this place is famous for several things eaten...

Went to a tea house on the 2nd floor.


Enjoyed "zongzi" - famous in this region. Sticky rice with fatty pork in the middle.

It was quite an eventful bus ride with the locals. We took a better bus back home. It was nice to be back in the city.
