This morning, we had a lovely breakfast of brioche and orange juice. Ummmm, I need to learn how to make brioche. Anyone have any good recipes?
Because I am so damn sexy.
Then papi, Raf, and I made a trip to the local market to pick up some fresh baguettes. Here we saw an abundance of freshly made paella, cheese, fruits, veggies, meat, etc., and horsemeat (ick!). We got stopped many times on the way because everyone in this little town loves Papi! It's pretty cool here, you can't walk by someone without them saying hello to you. People here are so polite. What happened to America?
Raf and Papi on the way to the market.
Papi, and probably the biggest lady in France working behind the counter. (Or maybe the average person in America?)
Speaking of the biggest lady in France. Mami asked Papi who he bought the meat from.
Mami: Did you buy meat from the strong lady?
Papi: Yah, I bought it from the fat lady.
Mami: Don't say that! She can't help it. It's not her fault.
Papi: Then who's fault is it?
HAHAHAHHA! Papi is so funny. It is rare to see really obese people in France. I noticed that people tend to stare if a really obese person walks by. I wonder how Europeans feel when they visit America, or better yet, Nashville!
Paella!
Yum, ca sent la culotte!
Ick!
For lunch, mami prepared chicken with garlic and thyme plus the best mayo we have ever tasted that came out of a toothpaste bottle. Of course, we also had more wine, fois gras, and tabouli.
Ummm, fresh baguettes! I insisted on carrying them home.
The rest of the afternoon, Rafael’s Uncle took us all around the wineries to sightsee and take pictures. We also stopped by town to eat some ice-cream.
We visited Chateau Lafitte and Chateau Margeaux, amongst many others where we took a lot of photos. When we stopped by Chateau Lafitte, it was closed, but for some reason the attendant lowered the bars in the road so we just drove right in. We got a bit lost at this winery, but it was fun, and we were able to check it out.
We also stopped by Chateau Beychevelle for an English tour. Apparently, they stopped doing wine tasting because the French were taking advantage of it. hahaha.

After the site seeing, we went home and got ready for Rafael's cousin's recital. His cousin Jean-Charles and his wife own a dance studio as they are both dancers. It was a recital with their students. They had skits in ballet (Nutcracker), and also modern dance where they wore tight pleather with slits on the pant legs, and midriffs. This was Papi's favorite out of all of the acts. hahah!
Outside the dancehall with Satine, Jean-Charles' daughter, and Rafael's aunt.
Jean-Charles, Satine, and me. She's soooo cute!
After the recital, we went to Uncle's and started dinner at 11pm! It consisted of:
• Sangria (that came out of a bottle?)
• Rose and red wine
• Whiskey
• Some type of salsa cheetos that were really good
• Diced fatty ham pate (sooo good, I ate so many of these!)
• Pepperoni slices (the real shit)
• Spanish omelet w/ potatoes, onions, and egg(I need to learn how to make this!)
• Lamb sausages
• Baguettes
• Cheese
• Crème brulee ice-cream (with real chunks of torched sugar coating)
• Coffee
They don't drink coffee with anything except sugar. Different for me because I always have mine with milk or cream. I got used to it, but I still prefer milk.
Conversations ranged from blowjobs (Rafael's cousin, Erik (EH-reek), was trying to understand why we use the word "blow"), penises, dirty jokes (yes, Uncle, Mami, and Papi, too!) to politics. I love the French! They don't understand why Bush is still President, so we had to explain to them. They also didn't understand why they wanted to impeach Clinton for getting a blowjob. Apparently, the previous French president had an illegitimate child and used tax dollars to raise her. Nobody cared because he did a good job overall. Erik mentioned that a blowjob wouldn't even make the news in France. That is their personal business and what counts is that they run the country efficiently. Anyway, there was a wide range of topics that made a very entertaining night. I wish I understood more French!
So Erik actually took Chinese for two weeks and dropped out because it was so tough. He actually remembered how to say some things like "Ni hao, Ni xuexi shenme," and his accent was really good! Better than people I have met that has taken Chinese for two years! He remembers the four main tones in Chinese too, and we were discussing how tough it is to learn Chinese. He felt that it was 100x harder than learning French. Erik also understands English but claims to not speak very well.
Example:
"Let me try...Is it true that China only has one time zone?"
Doesn't know English??? Don't people that try to speak English say things like "Hello. How are you? Good night!" HAHAH. I thought that was pretty funny. Why do the French pretend not to speak English? ;)
This "dinner" concluded at 3:30am! I don't know how they do it. I cannot hang with Mami and Papi as they were completely up and awake. I was already really sleepy and tired!
